According to the Trade Register of the Republic of Belarus, the number of retail trade facilities operating in the Republic of Belarus increased by 5% (by 5239 units) in the first half of 2018 and amounted to 110525 units as of July 1, 2018.

The retail area of ​​retail trade facilities increased by 5% (by 303.3 thousand square meters) and amounted to 6352.9 thousand square meters as of July 1, 2018.

The number of stores in the Republic of Belarus in January-June 2018 increased by 5.4% (by 2413 units) and amounted to 47032 units as of July 1, 2018.

The retail area of ​​stores in the abovementioned period increased by 5.2% (by 278.4 thousand square meters) and amounted to 5676.1 thousand square meters as of July 1, 2018.

The number of shopping centers in the Republic in the abovementioned period increased by 2.6% (by 15 units) and amounted to 596 units as of July 1, 2018. The area of ​​shopping centers allocated for trade facilities increased by 6.4% (by 113.8 thousand square meters) and amounted to 1905.5 thousand square meters.

The retail area density is 740.86 square meters per 1000 people as of July 1, 2018:  

  • Brest Region - 697.51 square meters;
  • Vitebsk Region - 647.86 square meters;
  • Gomel Region - 634.47 square meters;
  • Grodno Region - 623.37 square meters;
  • Minsk - 875.42 square meters;
  • Minsk Region - 895.28 square meters;
  • Mogilev Region - 699.3 square meters.
     

Online shopping also continues to develop. As of July 1, 2018, 17801 online stores were registered in the Trade Register (an increase by 10.1% or 1626 units by the beginning of 2018), of which 8670 (48.7%) belong to legal entities, 9131 (51.3%) belong to self-employed entrepreneurs.

Retail trade in online stores is carried out by 10911 retailers, of which:

  • 4711 (43.2% of the total number of trade entities) of legal entities;
  • 6200 (56.8% of the total number of trade entities) of self-employed entrepreneurs.
